If you are after the Brown sound in a 50w package then this is as good as it will get. Pure smile inducing fun to play, this is a great rock amp and if you choose to install the optional mods you will also have an amp that is capable of glorious cleans and a full range of tones in between.

What makes this amp special? Well a few things. Firstly there is a switch on the front panel to allow the user to switch between Black mode (high voltage) and Brown Mode (Low Voltage) This allows you to switch the inside voltage down to what would be 90v wall voltage in the USA. The result is what is commonly called the Brown sound when fully cranked up and this also lowers overall output power.

In Black mode this amp also features higher internal voltages than the Modulus 69 Small Box kit, approx 470v. This gives a bit more headroom and power output and gets the amp to sound closer to the bigger 100w models that ran higher plate voltages.

The amp has a 50k Mid pot rather than the standard 25k, This means more mids and less tone stack losses = more power section drive

The amp has a fat cap cathode bypass cap on the stage feeding the cathode follower, this is a full range boost that helps to really push the power amp.

In addition to this you have the option to add switches for the following

Bright Cap - three Way: The bright cap on the Bright Volume is notorious on these amps, being able to switch it to a lower value or right out gives the volume control much more control and ability to dial in balanced clean tones

Fat Cap Switch: The stock amp has a hard wired bypass capacitor, this switch makes it optional. when switched in you get more gain and fatness overall, when switch out you get more headroom and clarity on clean notes.

65/68 Tone switch: This switch changes the components in the tone stack to reshape the way the treble and bass respond. The 68 switch is the classic thick Plexi tone that sounds glorious when cranked, the 65 is the tone stack originally used in the JTM45 and Tweed Bassman amps, it is easier on the ears and works great for clean sounds and as a pedal platform.

We have tried to make the options above flexible enough to build the exact amp you want, but if you want some small differences please let us know, Our recommendation are as follows

• High Spec: Sozo Coupling Caps, F&T Filters,Carbon film Resistors
• Good Spec: Mallory Coupling Caps, Modulus Filter caps, Carbon film Resistors
• Budget Spec: Yellow Modulus Coupling caps, Modulus Filter Caps, Carbon film Resistors

If you select to include valves we typically supply JJ Electronic valves with this kit

You can also select your faceplate colour and knobs, we make faceplate's to order so if you have any special requirements let us know and we will see what we can do to help.

Our transformers are high quality units based directly off real Drake transformers that we pulled apart to measure every detail, They meet modern safety and insulation requirements.

Cabinets are made to order and we will ship the complete kit with the cabinet. It is cheaper to buy the cabinet with the kit compared to purchasing it later.
